Here’s some cool information and fun facts about Sammamish, Washington.
Long before European settlers came to Sammamish the Snoqualmie People hunted in the area and had a small village.
Outdoorsman Martin Monohon was the first settler to come to the land and built a log house in the area. He built a ferry landing in 1880 and laid out the first road through town. When the railroad came to the area the Donnelly Mill relocated and began operating on the lake nearby. The timber industry drove the economy in the early days and the town expanded to include a hotel and various shops. More industries sprang up, increasing the population and putting the town on the map. Sammamish was officially incorporated on August 31, 1999.
Today, the total population of this great American city is 65,892 people.
